The Texas Coalition for Animal Protection is the dream of Stacey Taylor, whose mission is to advance the cause saving animals' lives through effective nonprofit management.
Stacey Taylor has been involved in the field of animal welfare since 1994. She is the founder of the Hopkins County Animal Protection League and past President and Public Relations Director of the organization. Taylor is also a founding member of the Texas Coalition for Animal Protection and currently serves as President and a member of its board.
Stacey Taylor established the Hopkins County Animal Protection League's low cost pet sterilization clinic in 1997 to help provide a needed service to East Texas residents and their animals. In just six short years, the program has expanded to sterilize 50-75 animals per day, to oversee paid staff and to maintain a waiting list of up to four weeks for pets to be serviced. Since its inception, the program has helped sterilize more than 15,000 animals.
Stacey Taylor also established the Denton Low Cost Pet Sterilization Program in Denton, Texas. The program sterilizes between 30-50 pets per day. Taylor has served as the public relations coordinator, the manager, the clinic overseer and the general business manager. As of September, 2004, the program had sterilized more than 5,000 animals since its founding in November, 2002. She also has begun the Shelter Spay program, which uses public animal shelters to offer low cost pet sterilization opportunities.
Stacey Taylor has researched the animal welfare industry, analyzed trends, articulated the alternatives to killing homeless animals, studied the practices of effective nonprofit management, and provided a voice for the growing numbers of care-giving organizations that are dedicated to saving animals' lives.
Taylor has delivered countless presentations to discuss effective animal control methods and nonprofit management to city councils and municipal organizations, private animal welfare organizations, civic groups and funding organizations. She has also written many successful grant proposals, including those funded by esteemed animal welfare organizations like the DJ&T Foundation, PetsMart Charities and the Meadows Foundation. In addition, Taylor has overseen grassroots campaigns to change city laws, has created media campaigns for various community projects and has provided budgeting expertise for many animal welfare organizations.
Stacey Taylor provides nonprofit management consultation to individuals and corporate groups, speaks to educational gatherings, and travels willingly on behalf of saving animals' lives as a representative of the Texas Coalition for Animal Protection. Her interest is in helping Texas animal shelter and animal welfare organizations function more effectively. Further, her goals are to develop awareness that both direct care and strategic management are of equal importance in the operation of animal welfare organizations.
Stacey Taylor holds a bachelor's degree in English and Spanish from Texas A & M University in Commerce, Texas. She also holds a master's degree in Liberal Arts from Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas. Taylor has successfully completed the Alternative Dispute Resolution Graduate Certificate Program at Southern Methodist University. Taylor serves as both a mediator and a negotiator, and is qualified to serve as an EEO investigator within the state of Texas.
